What is Aerial Yoga

Aerial Yoga is a style of yoga that uses a soft fabric hammock to support your body while you move through poses. Instead of always staying on the floor, you might:

  • Hang partially or fully in the air.

  • Use the hammock to support your hips, back, or legs.

  • Invert (go upside down) more safely and easily.

  • Flow between ground-based and aerial movements.

What it feels like:

  • It’s a mix of yoga, Pilates, dance and light acrobatics. The hammock acts like a partner supporting your weight, so you can explore:

  • Deeper spinal decompression.

  • Assisted stretches.

  • Gentle inversions without pressure on the neck or spine.

Common benefits:

  • Relieves spinal pressure and tightness

  • Improves flexibility and mobility

  • Builds core and upper body strength

  • Helps with balance and body awareness

  • Can feel calming because of the “floating” support
