About Sarah Louisignau, E-RYT and Ayurvedic Apothecary

Sarah came to yoga from the perspective of an athlete, and found it to bring grace and balance to muscular overuse, and symmetry to her body, making sports like climbing & skiing more enjoyable. As she continued to study, she learned how to cultivate mindfulness and awareness in her life and over time this deeply therapeutic practice became a source of psychological healing. She appreciates the path of yoga for the lifeline it was for her, and attempts to guide her students with humility toward their own awakenings.ᅠ

She has been a devoted yogini for many years, and teaching since 2007.

Sarah has studied and taught all over the country, and is co-creator of EnLIVEn Retreats, hosting Wellness Retreats in Puerto Rico starting in 2013.

Yoga has been balancing and transformative, and has enriched her life in many ways - physically, emotionally, mentally, and energetically. From the perspective of yoga as therapy she has found that yoga helps people move through trauma in a very unique way.

ᅠShe has studied under many different teachers and styles including Vinyasa, Iyengar, Ashtanga, Yin, and Hatha. She is currently studying with Jackie Chiodo, earning her RYT 500 certification with a focus on Chakra Therapy, Ayurveda and Prenatal Yoga.

Introducing Ayurvedic Apothecary:

My new line of Dosha Balancing Aromatherapy oil blends!  Made with premium essential oils  (mostly organic) and hand blended with L O V E !

How to Use These Blends:

* Use them to balance your vikruti (subtle Dosha fluctuations) - if you have an imbalance in a particular Dosha,ᅠ
use the oil for that Dosha. This may be the same as your prakruti (baseline constitution), or different!

* Use the oil as often as you like, but remember the properties of each, and be discerning! (be careful using Vata balancing in the morning when you need get-up-and-go, or Kapha at night when you need to wind down.)

* Use the oil on the soft spots where your blood is close to the skin, inner wrist, below the earlobe, sternum, etc. There is a combo of top notes, mid notes, and base notes in each blend - specifically formulated to evolve as the oils evaporate, absorb, and adapt to your own scent! Top notes are the quickest to go, lasting 1-2 hrs, mid notes lasting 2-5 hrs, and base notes may last up to 10 hrs depending.

* The first sub dosha of Vata - Prana Vata - governs our vital life force, and is located in the brain, the head, and chest. It is responsible for inhalation, and makes possible all of the senses, including the ability to think and have feelings. Almost all diseases have some aspect of disruption of the Prana Vata. Therefore, breathing exercises and aromatherapy can be an important part of healing any condition! This isn't just woo-woo perfume!

Zero Gravity Yoga uses the arial yoga swing as a prop to assist students in their understanding of yoga alignment principals, to assist students find and build strength in a supportive environment, to invert the body without pressure on the neck and to bring an element of joy to the practice!  Many students report that they are measurably taller after a Zero Gravity class, as the spine is lengthened in the opposite direction that gravity usually pulls, hence the term 'Zero Gravity'!

Yoga for Pelvic Floor Health CERTIFIED:
Sarah got certified in pelvic floor health and awareness byᅠLeslie Howard, PF Goddess in New York City, May 2012.  She teaches that as women we have the unique power of creativity in our pelvises. We bring life into being, and through our root build foundations for a healthy relationship to ourselves, our families and our communities. The female pelvis and hips are a pandora's box for many women, sometimes with conflicting emotions like strength and vulnerability, creativity and criticism, pleasure and pain. This dynamic part of our anatomy is often stigmatized, objectified and culturally misunderstood. Many women have issues due to age, lifestyle, bearing children, pelvic trauma or hereditary tendencies.
With this awareness you can begin to understand how emotional stress directly translates to physical problems in reproduction, the lumbar spine, sacrum, and hip joints. Find out whether you should be strengthening, softening, stabilizing or stretching the muscles of the pelvic floor, to keep this region healthy as we age, and to free up your creativity!
Viva la Pelvis!
